Be you, unapologetically.

Be relatable.
But don’t share things that the majority of your friends or followers won’t be looking forward to consuming.

Share your love for God.
But don’t announce you’re Catholic, you’ll lose a bigger Christian audience.

Be positive.
But don’t post something positive during a tragic time as some people aren’t ready to receive it.

Be real.
But make sure you’re showing you’re empowered and as a woman and mother, you can do it all.

Be open to exploring and trying and writing about new things.
But don’t talk about anything that would be “off” brand.

Be gracious and humble.
But don’t let others walk all over you; still keep your dominant presence.

Be diverse.
But don’t do anything ingenious or inauthentic; even if you are being true to your values and morals, others may not receive it that way.

Be funny.
But some will be turned off by your humor so be cautious about it.

Be transparent.
But don’t disclose too much; there needs to be things kept sacred and you’ll never give people enough of what they want, anyways.

Be mysterious.
But don’t be too cryptic as it will leave others frustrated with you.

Be tactful.
But be sure to be brutally honest; you’ll be attacked for this forward approach.

Be prepared.
But know that you must expect the unexpected with putting it out there.

Be bold.
But still be subtle and don’t allow others to know your political party or where you stand on trending debates.

Be human.
But don’t share so many of your flaws and failures as once they’re out there, there’s no taking them back.

Acknowledge what’s happening in the world.
But don’t dwell on it and give people something else to think about.

Be pretty.
But not too pretty because you’ll make others feel insecure.

Be intelligent.
But don’t speak above others as that will come off condescending.

Be vulnerable.
But not enough that you allow others to hurt you with their reaction.

Be a Jesus girl.
But be sure you’re also conforming to and with the times so you’re modern.

Be the girl that you think the majority of other mothers need to see and read about right now.
But also throw in some real things happening in your everyday life.

You know what?

I never really did or never will be able to fit the bill that everyone who knows me or follows me or ‘loves to hate me yet watches me like a hawk every day, secretly wishing for my demise’ to please people.

When you put yourself out there and the more eyes that make their way to you and your work and your words and your beliefs, you better believe the more criticism comes flying at you.

After trying to be taken out/off of Facebook and Instagram permanently, I’ve been warned I’m a moving target.

After much consideration on all of the above, I’m pretty sure I’m still going to carry on simply being Regan.

The exhausted, crazed, abundantly blessed mom of 5 who has had the hand of God work multiple miracles of her life and family’s life.

If you have a job to do on social media (whether a business person, an entrepreneur, a writer, a motivational speaker, a politician, a religious leader or advocate, a household name or public figure), do me a favor - don’t you dare stop for a second in being true to yourself and sharing what it is you believe in and stand for.

If you’re not any of the above, yet are “only” connected to family and/or friends, do me a favor and carry out the same task as you never know ...

Your job in being your authentic self, may be far greater and more important than any title above.

But let’s all do each other a favor: be you.

I’m all for a good filter every now and again.

I’m all for an edited video that has caught some good footage.

I’m all for sharing only what is safe and comfortable for you and your loved ones.

But let’s remove the facades, let’s lift our masks (no pun intended) and let’s simply BE who God proudly created and intended for us to become.
